ORLANDO, Fla. - Texas-Ex Kevin Durant (2007) scored 36 points and earned Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors while leading the Western Conference to a 152-149 win over the Eastern Conference Sunday evening at the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. Durant, now in his fifth season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, became the first former Longhorn to be selected as the MVP in the 62-year history of the NBA All-Star Game.
Durant, whose 36 points tied for a game high alongside LeBron James' 36-point effort, converted 14-of-25 field goals, including 3-of-8 from three-point range. The two-time NBA All-Star Game starter pulled down seven rebounds and added three assists and three steals in his 37 minutes on the floor.
Sunday's game marked the first NBA All-Star Game in which two former Longhorns competed. Texas-Ex LaMarcus Aldridge (2005-06), now in his sixth season with the Portland Trail Blazers, chipped in four points and one rebound in 10 minutes. The 2011 third-team All-NBA selection made his first career appearance in the NBA All-Star Game.
