Hersey advances to second 200m butterfly Olympic final

LONDON -- Former University of Texas swimmer Kathleen Hersey clocked the top time in Tuesday's 200m butterfly semifinals to advance to her second Olympic final in the event.
Hersey won the second of two semifinal heats in 2:05.90 at the Aquatics Centre. She was third after the first 100 meters but closed out the victory with a strong second half.
Hersey also clocked the fastest time in the morning round of qualifying heats. She swam a 2:06.41 to win her heat by more than a second. The top 16 after five heats moved on to the semifinals.
The 200m butterfly final is scheduled for Wednesday at 2:09 p.m. CT.
Hersey qualified for the 200m butterfly final at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the summer prior to her freshman season at UT. She finished eighth.
