Men's Tennis eliminated from Pre-qualifying round of ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Texas men's tennis team lost three singles matches to begin the first day of the Pre-qualifying tournament at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa.
Sophomore Joey Swaysland lost in the first round to Vukasin Teofanovic of Marquette in two sets (6-4, 6-4).
Both sophomore Jacoby Lewis and senior Ben Chen received first-round byes before being eliminated in the second round of the 256-player field. Russell Bader of Penn State defeated Lewis in two sets (7-6, 7-5). Chen retired his match in the first set against Adam Lee (Wake Forest) due to injury.
The Qualifying round of the Championships - featuring senior Chris Camillone, junior David Holiner and junior Sudanwa Sitaram - will begin on Monday, Oct. 1. Players from the field of 128 will need to win three rounds to advance to the Main Draw Singles - 16 players will advance out of the Qualifying round.
