• Texas meets two opponents for the first time and renews a rivalry at the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam this week in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. The Longhorns, competing in the Reef Division, meet Texas A&M for the 84th time (Friday, 5 p.m. CT) while facing Syracuse (Thursday, 7 p.m. CT) and Memphis (Saturday, 5 p.m. CT) for the first time.
• The Longhorns hold an all-time record of 4-1 in two previous appearances in the Paradise Jam. UT won the St. Thomas Division in 2001 with a 2-0 record and finished second in the Reef Division in 2009 with a 2-1 record.
• Friday's game against Texas A&M will mark Karen Aston's 200th career game as a collegiate head coach.
• Texas (3-1) is coming off a 63-54 loss against No. 6/5 Stanford on Saturday in Austin. The Longhorns held the Cardinal to 32.3 percent shooting and led 37-30 at halftime, but UT shot just 17.2 percent in the second half to suffer its first loss of the season.
• Through four games this season, Texas has one of the best defenses in the nation. Among NCAA Division I teams, the Longhorns rank third in FG shooting defense (.278), 11th in scoring defense (49.8 ppg) and 10th in rebounding margin (+15.0).
• Senior guard Chassidy Fussell was named to the Naismith Trophy Early Season Watch List on Monday. Fussell has led UT in scoring for three straight seasons and enters the week with 1,458 career points (15.5 ppg). The Troy, Tenn., native has scored 20 or more points in 31 of 93 career games played. In February, the list narrows to the top 30 and in March four finalists will be named to the final ballot.
• Junior forward Nneka Enemkpai leads the Big 12 Conference in rebounding (10.5 rpg) and leads Texas in scoring (14.0 ppg) this season.
• Sophomore center Imani McGee-Stafford posted her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 rebounds against Stanford on Saturday.
