Valero Alamo Bowl records another sellout

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The 2013 Valero Alamo Bowl between the University of Oregon and the University of Texas has officially reached capacity. This year's game is the third straight sellout and the sixth in the last eight years.

"After celebrating our 20th anniversary last year, we pledged the next 20 Valero Alamo Bowls would be even more memorable and impactful" said Derrick Fox, Valero Alamo Bowl President/CEO. "Thanks to the tremendous fan following of Oregon and Texas coupled with the support of our title sponsor Valero this year's game will feature one our largest crowds of all-time."

Both universities have sold their entire allotments and Valero purchased the remaining 220 seats for a San Antonio Food Bank fund raiser. These donated tickets will be available at San Antonio Food Bank office at 5200 W. Old U.S. Hwy. 90 beginning at 10 a.m. Central Tuesday (Christmas Eve) for a minimum cash donation of $60 per ticket.

This is the Longhorns' third appearance in the Alamo Bowl and each has sold out (also 2006 and 2012).

Since every $1 donated to the San Antonio Food Bank can be turned into seven meals, the goal is to turn the Valero Alamo Bowl tickets into 100,000 meals for those in need in the San Antonio community.

Tickets are limited to four per person, available on a first-come, first-served basis, and only cash will be taken onsite.

The 2013 Valero Alamo Bowl will kick off at 5:45 p.m. Central on Monday, Dec. 30 and feature what is expected to be a Top 5 All-Time Valero Alamo Bowl crowd. The current Top 5 attendances are:

• 66,166 - Valero Alamo Bowl, Dec. 29, 2007 (Penn State vs. Texas A&M)
• 65,875 - Alamo Bowl, Dec. 30, 2006 (Texas vs. Iowa)
• 65,380 - SYLVANIA Alamo Bowl, Dec. 28, 1999 (Penn State vs. Texas A&M)
• 65,277 - Valero Alamo Bowl, Dec. 29, 2012 (Texas vs. Oregon State)
• 65,265 - MasterCard Alamo Bowl, Dec. 29, 2004 (Ohio State vs. Oklahoma State)
