Marches originally set the record at the Mt. SAC Relays in April of 2012 (10:40.45) and beat it at the 2012 Big 12 Outdoor Championships (10:37.50) before breaking it again today. Interim head coach Rose Brimmerwas impressed by the performances in the 400-meter hurdles event.
"We had six runners in the 400 [meter] hurdles and three of them are beginners," said Brimmer. "Chamique (Francis) was the one I was most impressed with, because last meet she went 1:06 and this week she went 1:02. Danielle, as a veteran, did what she needed to do to get into the final. I thought it was a nice little kickoff."
Jessica Harper led the Longhorns in the 5,000 meters, finishing 11th with a mark of 17:19.57. Sophomore Connor Wardrecorded a personal best in the event crossing in 17:26.57 for 13th.

The day concluded for the women with the 10,000 meters. Freshman Kendall Howen led the Longhorns in her first attempt at the event, finishing seventh with a mark of 36:03.37. Redshirt freshmen Marissa Lee and Marissa Pekarekalso made their outdoor debuts in a Longhorn uniform during the race.
Brimmer has been impressed with her team thus far and hopes to see continuous improvement on Friday and Saturday.
"In the prelim races, I am wanting the kids to run well to get a good lane for the finals," said Brimmer. "Come the weekend, I want them to be able to feel comfortable, do their best and represent Texas very well."
The Texas Relays will continue on Friday with the morning session beginning at 9:35 a.m. Central The competition will be televised live on the Longhorn Network from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
