WALNUT, Calif. - Brittany Marches clocked a time of 10:47.06 in 3,000-meter steeplechase during Thursday's action at the Mt. SAC Relays to highlight the performance of the No. 7 Women's Track and Field team.
Marches, one of four Longhorns competing on the day, finished 10th in a strong field which featured a number of athletes who are already in position to qualify for the NCAA West Regional.
Marches' time should place her among the top 40. The athletes with the top 48 times/marks advance to the NCAA West prelims, which will be held next month in Austin.
Texas also had a pair of career-best performances in the 1,500-meter Open race.
Anne Jones clocked a time of 4:32.35 and Katie Burford crossed the finish line in 4:39.16.
Megan Siebert posted a time of 35:55.16 in her first-ever 10,000 meters. She finished 22nd in the Invitational Elite field.
Seven Longhorns will be in action Friday at the Mt. SAC Relays which conclude Saturday.
The rest of the Texas squad will also play host to the Longhorn Invitational Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Field events start at noon and running events begin at 3 p.m.
