After winning six of the 25 events in which it competed on Thursday and Friday, the No. 4 Texas track and field team had a relatively quiet final day at the 86th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
But the Longhorns had entries in just two events Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium, which had a crowd of 16,549.
Senior Keiron Stewart, a five-time first team All-American, took fourth in the University men's 110-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in a wind-assisted (2.6) time of 13.51 seconds. Stewart raced out to the early lead and appeared headed to victory in hand before tweaking his hamstring while clearing the second-to-last hurdle, causing him to fall to fourth. However, his injury is not serious.
One of the Longhorns' wins on Friday came from sophomore Ryan Crouser who posted a career-best toss of 67 1/2 in winning the University shot put (section A).
He followed that up with a fifth-place showing in Saturday's University discus (section A), hurling his fourth attempt 194-6 (59.28m). UCLA's Julian Wruck set the Texas Relays meet record with an effort of 216-7 (66.01m).
Fellow Longhorns Will Spence, Clint Harris, Blake Jakobsson, and Hayden Baillio also competed in the event, finishing ninth (187-4/57.11m), 10th (180-8/55.06m), 11th (180-0/54.86m) and 13th (172-9/52.66m), respectively, to round out the Texas Relays schedule for the Longhorns.
Joe Stilin, who completed his Texas eligibility during indoor season, finished second in the Jerry Thompson Mile in 4:07.70. Stilin broke Texas records in both the indoor mile and 3,000 earlier this season, his lone year with the Longhorns after graduating from Princeton in 2012.
The Longhorns captured titles in three different relays over the weekend, including the distance medley, 4x800m, and the 4x1500m.
Texas posted its 10th all-time 4x800 win, the most in the history of the Texas Relays. It was the just the second victory in the DMR, though both have come in the last three years.
Texas showed off its long-distance prowess in the 10,000m run, notching the top five spots to cap off Thursday's events.
Ryan Dohner earned the top spot with a time of 29:34.34, the No. 1 mark in the nation this season. Craig Lutz was second in a career-best 29:39.22 (No. 2 in the nation).
In Friday's slate, Jarard Bruner's career-best leap (50-11.50/15.53m) crowned him champion of the section B triple jump
Crouser's shot-put win moved him into the Texas record book. His mark ranks No. 3 on the UT all-time performers list and No. 5 on the performance chart.
