No. 29 Women's Tennis tops Kansas State, 6-1

WAMEGO, Kan. - First-semester freshman Breaunna Addison upset an ITA top-15 opponent and added an impressive doubles win alongside Noel Scott, as Texas (13-9, 6-1 Big 12) cruised to a 6-1 victory at Kansas State (7-10, 1-6 Big 12) Saturday afternoon.
Texas opened the match by sweeping the three doubles contests to handily win the doubles point. Addison and Scott teamed up for an 8-4 win over K-State's 30th-ranked tandem of Petra Niedermayerova and Karla Bonacic at first doubles.
UT clinched the doubles point at second doubles, where Elizabeth Begley and Aeriel Ellis posted an 8-5 win over the Wildcats' Ivana Kubickova and Amina St. Hill. Annat Rabinovich and Lana Groenvynck completed the sweep with an 8-4 win over Ana Gomez Aleman and Carmen Borau Ramos at third doubles.
The Longhorns wasted little time in securing the three singles wins they would need to clinch the team victory. At second singles, the 38th-ranked Ellis took the first set off of Bonacic, who retired prior to the second set to give Texas a 2-0 lead. Begley defeated Kubickova by a 6-3, 6-0 at third singles to give the Horns a 3-0 lead.
Addison clinched the Longhorns' victory at first singles, as she upset K-State's 12th-ranked Niedermayerova, 6-2, 6-2 to give Texas an insurmountable 4-0 lead. Addison registered her 12th consecutive win over the last month and collected her 23rd and 24th consecutive set victories.
Scott pushed the Texas lead to 5-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over St. Hill at fourth singles. Groenvynck chipped in the final point for the Longhorns with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Borau Ramos at fifth singles.
Texas completes the regular season next weekend when it visits Baylor and TCU. The Longhorns have earned a first-round bye in the Big 12 Championship set for April 25-28 in Norman, Okla.
