TEAM NOTES
• Series: With the loss, Texas now leads the series 6-2. The Longhorns had their three-game winning streak in the series snapped.
• Block Party: The Longhorns came up with their first blocked kick of the season when Malcom Brown deflected a third quarter PAT. The Longhorns had seven blocked kicks last season, which tied for third in the FBS. Texas has 71 blocked kicks since 2001, the most in the nation over that span.
• Big Crowd: Tonight's attendance of 101,474 is the third largest in Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium history. There was a record crowd of 101,851 for last year's West Virginia game and 101,624 fans came through the turnstiles for the 2011 Rice contest. It was the 23rd all-time crowd in excess of 100,000.
• Honorary Captain: One of Texas' all-time great basketball players, Kevin Durant, served as honorary captain.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
David Ash, QB
• Did not play due to head and shoulder injuries. He was injured during the BYU contest.
Mike Davis, WR
• Posted seven receptions for 46 yards, including a 13-yard TD catch. He moved into a tie for ninth on the UT career touchdown receptions list with 14. Wane McGarity (1995-98) and Johnny 'Lam' Jones (1976-79) also had 14.
Anthony Fera, PK
• After not attempting a field goal in the first two games, he connected on 3 of 3. He hit a career-long 47-yard field goal with under a minute remaining in the second quarter, which gave the Horns a 23-14 lead. He had a 46 yarder vs. Ohio State (while at Penn State) in 2011. He set a career-high 11 points scored on three field goals and two PATs.
Johnathan Gray, RB
• Had 19 carries for 91 yards, the third-highest total of his career.
Case McCoy, QB
• Made his first start of the season and seventh of his career. He started last season vs. Kansas State and had five in 2011.
Jaxon Shipley, WR
• Posted six receptions for 83 yards. He now has 122 career receptions, moving from 12th to 10th on Texas career receptions list. He passed Marquise Goodwin (120/2009-12) and James Kirkendoll (121/2007-10).
Josh Turner, S
• Made his third-career start at safety.
• Credited with a career-high eight tackles. His previous high was seven, which he posted two times (at Oklahoma State in 2012; vs. Baylor, 2012).
Kendall Sanders, WR
• Posted a career-high 147 all-purpose yards on 55 receiving yards and 92 kick return yards.
