The University of Texas Men's Tennis team completed its first weekend of individual competition on Sunday at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas and the Olympia Fields Country Club Fighting Illini Invitational in Chicago.
All-American Søren Hess-Olesen ended his season-opening run in the finals of the singles draw at the Racquet Club Invite, while Jacoby Lewis and Sudanwa Sitaram finished their weekend with a 3-0 doubles record in Chicago.
Hess-Olesen defeated Oklahoma State's Sebastian Saches in the semifinals on Sunday morning to setup a finals match with the top-two seeds in the event's singles draw -- 10th-ranked Hess-Olesen and 21st-ranked Andy Bettles of Boise State. Hess-Olesen lost in the finals to Bettles (6-2, 7-5).
Lewis and Sitaram finished the OFCC Fighting Illini Invitational with a 3-0 doubles record after picking up an 8-6 victory over Illinois' Farris Gosea and Tim Kopinski on Sunday. Lewis and Sitaram were also edged in respective singles matches on Sunday.
Lloyd Glasspool and David Holiner, who went 2-0 in doubles action this weekend, did not play in singles or doubles on Sunday due to minor injuries.
The Longhorns will return to competition at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., from Sunday, Sept. 29 through Sunday, Oct. 6.
