2014 marks final season for Penick-Allison Tennis Center

Plans for relocated outdoor facility are currently taking shape.
Built in 1986, the Penick-Allison Tennis Center is named for Dr. D.A. Penick and Wilmer Allison, Dr. Penick's leading prodigy. Named head coach at UT in 1912 after a long career as a top player, Dr. Penick guided Texas to numerous Southwest Conference titles and was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his achievements and contributions to the sport.
When the $3 million tennis center opened, it was the beginning of a new era for Texas Tennis. At that time, the facility reflected the modern era of college tennis. Selected as the site of several important championship tournaments, PATC has served collegiate tennis and UT well through the years.
UT Austin's new Dell Medical School campus eventually will displace PATC. Groundbreaking for the medical school is slated for May 2014. A new outdoor tennis center, currently in the planning stages, will provide world-class facilities and resources for both the men's and women's tennis programs, while enabling UT to continue to host conference, national and international competitions.
The new outdoor facility, currently planned to be developed near 51st and Guadalupe streets, will be built in phases and will feature:
- Minimum of 12 courts
- Parking for teams and fans
- Seating capacity for 1,200
- Welcome center and lounge for visiting teams
- Digital and broadcast capabilities
- Locker rooms for home and visiting teams
- Training room
- Players' lounge
- Stringing room
- Coaches' offices
