Track and Field sending split squads to two weekend meets

Longhorns will send athletes to both Razorback Invitational and Bill Bergan Invitational
Razorback Invitational

The Track and Field team will split up this weekend with a group of multi-event and distance athletes competing in the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., and a unit of sprinters and quarter-milers heading to Ames, Iowa for the Bill Bergan Invitational.
This will be the first multi-event competition of the indoor season for the Longhorns. Shanay Briscoe and Melissa Gonzalez will participate on Friday at Arkansas in the pentathlon, while Chris Irvin and Wolf Mahler will take part in the heptathlon on Friday and Saturday.
Briscoe was fourth at the Big 12 Indoor Championships and 12th at nationals in the pentathlon last season. Gonzalez, Irvin, and Mahler will be making their first collegiate appearance in a multi-event competition.
Senior Ryan Dohner will also make his season debut Saturday at the Razorback Invitational. The three-time All-American will be one of six Longhorns competing in the 3,000 meters.
Kentucky Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Texas A&M and Tulsa are among the teams sending athletes to the non-scored Razorback Invitational.
Many of the men's and women's sprinters will be in action Saturday at the non-scored meet in Ames which will be held at the Lied Recreation Center, site of next month's Big 12 Indoor Championships.
All-Americans Briana Nelson, Morgan Snow, Ashley Spencer and Christy Udoh will compete for the No. 2-ranked women team's. Zack Bilderback and Jake Wohlford are among those suiting up for the 19th-ranked men.
Athletes from Iowa, Kansas State, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin, as well as Iowa State, the host school, will participate at the Bill Bergan Invitational which begins Thursday, though no Horns are competing until Saturday.
