Head Coach Jerritt Elliott
On scheduling the Chinese matches: The Chinese team coming in is a great opportunity for us. Obviously, it provides a different culture, different style of play. They won their professional league over there, so we know we are going to be really challenged and that they will push us to the brink. The way that the schedule is in the Big 12, not having Oklahoma State, we have a lot of breaks. This gives me an opportunity to not only evaluate our team and work on some things, but also give some players that haven't played as much an opportunity as well. We are excited and hope our fans come out and support us.
On if this will help prepare for NCAAs: This will be our last chance to have back-to-back matches, in terms of preparation. We will try and get a small scouting report, go through the same routines and then have a second day where we will get to be competitive again. It will be good for us. To play great teams and great styles of volleyball is always a benefit. This sport takes a long time to learn all the nuances and these players are still learning and continue to learn into their 30s. It's not a game that you pick up easily. It takes time and we will see the players that train the way that they do over there and the way that they play. Hopefully we can take some positives from that and move forward from that.
Junior MB Molly McCage
On last night's match: I'm excited to play the Chinese team since it's such a different type of volleyball. We can learn so much from them. I think sometimes we get stuck playing the same volleyball, so it will be exciting to learn. We get to play them twice and see different lineups and see whatever shots they bring at us.
On if it will help prepare them for NCAAs: It's not a team that we can scout fully and I feel like that's what is going to happen in the NCAA tournament. We just need to be able to play on our toes and react as fast as we can.
