• No. 10/13 Texas Women's Basketball faces top-ranked Stanford on Thursday at 8 p.m. Central in Palo Alto, California. The game will be televised on Pac-12 Network and broadcast on the Longhorn IMG Radio Network (103.1 FM iHeart Austin). The Cardinal ended UConn's 47-game winning streak on Monday in Maples Pavilion, where Stanford now holds a 28-game home winning streak.
• Series info: Stanford leads the all-time series with Texas 6-2. Thursday marks the fourth game between Texas and Stanford since the 2010-11 season.
• Season opener: Texas opened the 2014-15 regular season with a 68-48 victory over UTSA on Nov. 15 in Austin. Sophomore center Kelsey Lang scored a team-high 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting. The Longhorns improved to 37-4 (.902) in home opener, including a 3-0 mark under coach Karen Aston.
• Taylor's career performance: In the season opener against UTSA last Sunday, sophomore guard Brianna Taylor set career highs in points (11), rebounds (6), minutes played (23), field goals made (5), field goals attempted (10), and drained her first career 3-point field goal.
• Returning home: Juniors Imani McGee-Stafford and Celina Rodrigo were born in California (Los Angeles). McGee-Stafford graduated from the Windward School in L.A., while Rodrigo was later raised in Marietta, Georgia.
• Big 12 favorites: The Longhorns were selected as the preseason favorite to win the 2014-15 Big 12 regular season title in a preseason vote of the league's head coaches. UT was also picked at the top of the preseason rankings in 2003-04 and 2004-05.
• Back in the rankings: Texas was ranked ninth in The Associated Press' Preseason Top 25. It marked UT's first return to the top 10 since Nov. 17, 2009. The Horns are currently No. 10 in the AP poll and No. 13 in the USA TODAY Coaches poll.
• Returning core: The Longhorns are returning 82 percent of their scoring and 82 percent of their minutes played from last season's squad that finished third in the Big 12 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship. Senior forward Nneka Enemkpali has led UT in total points the last two seasons and averaged a team-best 8.6 rebounds per game last season. Texas features 10 returning letterwinners, including four starters.
• 7th-Winningest NCAA program: Texas begins its 41st season of varsity Women's Basketball as the seventh-winningest program in NCAA Women's Basketball history with a 72.9 winning percentage (958-356 record). Its 957 wins through 40 seasons are the sixth-most in NCAA history.
• Injury Report: Junior center Imani McGee-Stafford (leg) and freshman forward Diani Akigbogun (knee) will not be active for Thursday's game.
