Volleyball selected as No. 2 overall seed in 2014 NCAA Tournament

Texas will face Northwestern State on Thursday, Dec. 4 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 3 Texas Volleyball will make its 31st NCAA Championship appearance this week when it hosts the first and second rounds on Thursday, Dec. 4 and Friday, Dec. 5 at Gregory Gym.
Texas (23-2, 15-1) earned the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament and was placed in the Minneapolis Regional. The Horns will welcome Arizona State, Texas A&M and UT's first-round opponent, Northwestern State, as the Longhorns host for the 11th-straight season.
Arizona State will face Texas A&M on Thursday at 4:30 p.m., and the Longhorns will take on Northwestern State at 7 p.m., or 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first match. The winners of the two matches will meet on Friday at 8 p.m.
The winner of the Austin Sub-Regional will advance to the Minneapolis Regional, where it will face the winner of the Seattle (Washington) Sub-Regional in the NCAA "Sweet 16." Regional matches will be played Dec. 12 and 13.
Texas has been selected to host first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament 25 times and UT is 56-9 all-time in NCAA matches played in Austin. Texas is undefeated in first-round contests at 27-0.
