Notes at a Glance
• No. 4/4 Texas (5-0) faces New Mexico (1-5) for the second consecutive season on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Central in Austin. The game will be televised nationally on Longhorn Network and broadcast on the Longhorn IMG Radio Network (KVET 1300 AM).
• Series info: Texas leads the all-time series with New Mexico, 4-3. Last season, the Longhorns defeated New Mexico, 67-52, on Nov. 19, 2013 in Albuquerque. The series dates back to a 71-58 Texas victory on Dec. 6, 2001 in Austin.
• 5-0: Texas' first five wins to begin the season mark the second 5-0 start under Coach Karen Aston. It is the 14th time in program history the Longhorns have began the season with a 5-0 record.
• Moving up in the rankings: Texas moved up two spots to No. 4 in the Associated Press Top 25 on Monday and moved up five spots to No. 4 in the USA TODAY Coaches' poll on Tuesday. It is the Longhorns' highest ranking in both polls since December 2008 (No. 4/4) after starting the season 11-0.
• Last time out: Texas notched its second win over a top-10 team with a 72-59 win over No. 4/5 Tennessee on Sunday, led by 18 points from sophomore center Kelsey Lang. New Mexico lost to UC Riverside, 70-62, on Saturday in Albuquerque.
• Lang named Big 12 Player of the Week: Sophomore center Kelsey Lang was named Big 12 Player of the Week after averaging 19 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting .750 (18-24 FG) from the field during Texas' wins over UT-Pan American and No. 4/5 Tennessee. The Woodlands, Texas native posted a career-high 20 points with seven rebounds and a block in 27 minutes against UTPA. She then recorded a game-high 18 points with six rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal in 34 minutes against the Lady Vols. After five games, Lang leads No. 4 Texas in scoring (15.2 ppg), minutes (31.4 mpg) and field goal percentage (.632). Her .541 career field goal percentage ranks 11th in program history.
• First half flurry: Texas has led at halftime in all five games and holds a +10.8 scoring margin in the first half. The Longhorns are holding opponents to an average of 24.2 first-half points and a 31.6 first-half field goal percentage. In three home games, no Texas opponent has scored over 20 points in the first half.
• Dominating the boards: Texas features a rebounding margin of +14.0, which ranks second in the Big 12 and ninth nationally.
• Burnt Orange paint: Texas is out-scoring its opponents in the paint by an average of 35.2-to-21.2 -- a scoring margin of +14.0 points in the paint. 47 percent of UT's total points are scored in the paint, while 36 percent of opponent's total points are scored in the paint.
• Assists and field goals: Texas is holding opponents to 8.8 assists per game, while the Longhorns are recording 15.4 assists per game on the offensive end. UT's opponents record an assist on only 44 percent of field goals made -- 11 percentage points fewer than the current national average.
• Enemkpali nearing 1,000 points: Senior forward Nneka Enemkpali has 967 career points, 33 away from 1,000 points.
• Injury update: Junior center Imani McGee-Stafford (leg) is not cleared to participate on Wednesday.
