Last season at Penick-Allison Tennis Center
• UT Austin's new Dell Medical School campus will displace Penick-Allison Tennis Center after the completion of the season (May 2014). A new outdoor tennis center, currently in the planning stages, will provide world-class facilities and resources for both the men's and women's tennis programs, while enabling UT to continue to host conference, national and international competitions.
• The new outdoor facility, currently planned to be developed near 51st and Guadalupe streets, will be built in phases and will feature:
• Built in 1986, the Penick-Allison Tennis Center is named for Dr. D.A. Penick and Wilmer Allison, Dr. Penick's leading prodigy. Named head coach at UT in 1912 after a long career as a top player, Dr. Penick guided Texas to numerous Southwest Conference titles and was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his achievements and contributions to the sport.
• When the $3 million tennis center opened, it was the beginning of a new era for Texas Tennis. At that time, the facility reflected the modern era of college tennis. Selected as the site of several important championship tournaments, PATC has served collegiate tennis and UT well through the years.
• The Longhorn Foundation is currently seeking donor support for the facility project. If you are interested in making sure The University of Texas continues to hold serve in the tennis world, contact the Longhorn Foundation at 512-471-4439.
