No. 22 Women's Tennis defeats No. 32 Texas Tech, 5-2

Longhorns pick up first conference win of the season.
LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 22 Texas (6-9, 1-1 Big 12) won the doubles point and added four singles victories in a 5-2 win over No. 32 Texas Tech (10-6, 0-2 Big 12) Sunday in a contest spanning nearly six hours at Lubbock Country Club. The match was moved to a four-court indoor facility due to gusty winds.
The Longhorns opened the contest with doubles victories at the first and third positions to clinch the doubles point. UT's Breaunna Addison and Elizabeth Begley led off with an 8-4 win over Tech's Kenna Kilgo and Lynn Kiro at first doubles. UT clinched the point with its 8-6 win from Pippa Horn and Juliana Gajic over Samantha Adams and Beatriz Machado Santos at third doubles.
UT sophomore Ratnika Batra pushed the Texas lead to 2-0 with her 6-4, 6-3 win over Tech's 117th-ranked Nikki Sanders at third singles. Addison posted a 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 win over the Lady Raiders' Kilgo at first singles to give the Longhorns a 3-0 lead.
Tech cut the lead to 3-2 behind victories at the second and fourth positions, but UT's Horn clinched the Texas victory with her 6-4, 6-3 win over Adams at fifth singles. Texas sophomore Lana Groenvynck outlasted Tech's Sam Czarniak Rego in a third-set supertiebreaker at sixth singles to give the Longhorns their final point.
Texas returns home next weekend and resumes conference play against Iowa State and West Virginia.
