Thursday, March 27
• Junior Lindsay Vollmer of Kansas won the heptathlon with 5,640 points which is national-leading mark. Just 20 points separated the top three with Brittney Howell of Penn State, the day one leader, finishing second with 5,625. Brittany Harrell of Florida was third with 5,620. Vollmer was second in the heptathlon at the 2013 Texas Relays.
• The top five finishers in the decathlon posted the top marks in the nation. BYU's Chase Dalton won with 7,642 points, besting Arkansas's Kevin Lazas by 50 points. 2013 NCAA Champion Johannes Hock of Texas finished third with 7,573 points, Penn State's Robert Cardina took fourth with 7,508 points and Karl Saluri of New Orleans rounded out the top five with 7,497.
• Curtis Beach, the 2014 NCAA heptathlon champion at the Indoor Championships, was unable to compete on day two of the decathlon due to injury. Beach was sixth entering Thursday.
• Former Longhorn and 2012 Olympian Trey Hardee competed in the men's pole vault, placing eighth with a clearance of 17 3/4 (5.20m). Hardee was the silver medalist in the decathlon at the 2012 London Games and set the NCAA record (8,465) in the event at the 2006 Texas Relays.
• Texas-ex and 2012 Olympian Leo Manzano broke his previous Texas Relays record, winning the 800-meter invitational in 1:47.34. Manzano's 2014 sprint was 0.31 seconds faster than his previous record-setting run (1:47.65). James Gilreath finished second and also broke the 2012 mark, finishing in 1:47.63.
• In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Mississippi State's Cornelia Griesche was the top collegiate runner, finishing second in 10:21.78. Griesche's run is the nation's second best this year. Sarah Pease, representing adidas/Rogue, finished first in 10:12.55.
• Anthony Rotich, the defending NCAA champion from UTEP, finished first in the university 3,000-meter steeplechase in 8:38.68. That time leads the the nation this season and is the best finish in this event at the Texas Relays since Nicodemus Maimadu of ACU won in 8:35.87 in 2006.
• Texas senior Olivia Mickle won the university 5,000 meters in 16:35.43. The winning time was the fastest in that event at the Texas Relays since 2005 when Mirriam Kaumba of Oklahoma Baptist won in 16:12.60.
• In the final event of the night, the men's 5,000 meters, Texas' Mark Pinales set a personal best and took home the victory with a run of 14:29.96. The winning time was the best at the Texas Relays since Samuel Kosgei of Lamar won in 14:14.74 in 2009.
Friday, March 28
• Ryan Crouser of Texas, the defending NCAA outdoor champion, won the men's university shotput with a mark of 69-9 1/2 (21.27m), breaking his previous school record (69-2.50/21.09) and setting a Texas Relays record. The previous Texas Relays record of 69-2 1/4 (21.08m) was set by Texas A&M's Randy Barnes in 1986.
• Texas pole vaulter Kaitlin Petrillose, the 2014 NCAA indoor champion, broke her previous school record of 14-3 1/2 (4.35m) with a vault of 14-9 (4.49m). The sophomore attempted an NCAA record vault of 15-1 3/4 (4.62m) but fell just short on her third attempt. Petrillose became the first Longhorn woman to win the pole vault at the Texas Relays. Her mark is tied for ninth on the all-time NCAA outdoor performance list and tied for fifth on the performers list.
• Ole Miss pole-vaulter Sam Kendricks defended his 2013 Texas Relays title, as he was the only competitor to clear 18-8 1/4 (5.70m). Kendricks won last season with a Mike A. Myers Satadium record 19 3/4 (5.81m).
• Sara Patterson, representing Asics, set a Mike A. Myers Stadium record in the University/College javelin with a throw of 198-4 (60.45m), besting Kim Kreiner's previous best of 197-6 (60.21m).
• Shelbi Vaughan broke her Texas A&M school record in the discus as she heaved the implement 198-10 (60.61m) in the University/College Section A. The distance places Vaughan tied for No. 10 on the U.S. collegian all-time list with Arizona State's Anna Jelmini. For the 2014 season, Vaughan is currently ranked 10th on the world performers list and first among Americans.
• In the boys 4x400-meter relays, Taylor H.S. came within 0.75 seconds of the Texas Relays record of 3:18.24, set in 2000 by Dallas Jesuit. The team of Mylik Kerley, Albert Vasquez, Isiah Pittman, and Clark Griffith clocked the top qualifying spot of the five preliminary heats in 3:18.97.
• Colleen O'Brien of Kansas jumped the third-highest of the year in the high jump, winning with a mark of 5-11 1/4 (1.81m). Second place finisher Morgan Whitson of Missouri matched the fifth-highest jump of the year of 5-10 (1.78m).
• In the javelin, Cornell's Rob Robbins notched the second-longest collegiate throw of the year with a toss of 252-9 (77.04m). Robbins finished second in the event behind invitational participant Sam Humphries' throw of 252-9 (77.04m).
• South Florida's Matthew O'Neal took second in the triple jump section A and was the top collegiate finisher. O'Neal's mark of 53 (16.15m) is the nation's top jump this year.
• Representing USA High Performance, former Florida Gator Omar Craddock and 2013 Texas Relays champion, won the triple jump champion with a mark of 55-8 1/2 (16.98m).
• In the women's triple jump section A, Texas A&M's Laque Moen-Davis finished first and picked up the nation's best jump of the year in 43-4 1/4 (13.21m). Dallas Rose of Virginia finished third and grabbed the second-longest collegiate jump of the year in 42-5 1/4 (12.93m).
• The top four finishers in the preliminaries women's 4x100-meter relay notched the four best times in the nation this year. Florida took first in 43.75, followed by Texas (43.74), Texas A&M (43.97), and Kentucky (44.03).
• Texas A&M edged out their previous nation-leading time in the men's University 4x100-meter relay with a preliminary time of 38.71. Florida took second (39.06), ranking them third in the nation this season.
• In the prelims of the women's 100-meter hurdles, the top four finishers recorded the nation's best finishes of the year. Kendra Harrison of Kentucky took first (12.94), followed by LSU's Jasmin Stowers (13.01), Florida's Bridgette Owens (13.01), and Texas' Morgan Snow (Texas).
• For the prelims of the women's University 100-meter dash, the top four finishers grabbed the nation's best times of the year, led by Shayla Sanders of Florida who sprinted to a time of 11.20.
• The men's university 100-meter dash prelims saw the nation's three best times of the year. Trayvon Bromell of Baylor sprinted to the top-qualifying time in 10.02. Texas A&M's Prezel Hardy, Jr. took second (10.19), while Clemson's Reggie Lewis placed third (10.20).
• Notre Dame won the qualifying round of the women's 4x400-meter relay, finishing in the fastest time of the year in 3:34.71.
• Texas' Danielle Dowie (57.52) edged out LSU's Nikita Tracey (57.53) by one-hundredth of a second to win the university 400-meter hurdles for the second straight year. Chanice Chase of LSU rounded out the top three (57.67). The top three finishers notched the nation's best times of the season. Dowie won last season's race in 56.58.
• In the university men's 400-meter hurdles, the top four finishers took home the nation's best times of the year. Kansas' Michael Stigler took first in 50.08.
• The men's university long jump saw the nation's top three jumps of the year, led by Florida's Marquis Dendy, who won with a mark of 26 3/4 (7.93m). Louisiana Tech's Jarvis Gotch placed second (25-11 / 7.90m) and Jamal Peden of SFA took third (25-7.50 / 7.81m).
Saturday, March 29
• Keandre Bates, a senior from EP Burges, claimed the top spot in the high school boy's triple jump. Bates' jump of 50-4 was just two inches shy of the Texas Relay's record of 50-6, which was set in 2010 by Mark Jackson of Taylor.
• In the women's university 4x200-meter relay, Texas claimed the top spot with a time of 1:31.58, edging out Texas A&M by .24 seconds. Texas' winning time was 1.57 seconds behind the Texas Relay's record of 1:30.01.
• St. Thomas Aquinas set a national record in the high school girls 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:33.47, breaking the decade-old mark of 1:33.87 set back in 2004. The record-setting time smashed both the Mike A. Myers Stadium record (1:34.51) which was set in 2003 and the Texas Relays record (1:35.06), which was set in 2006.
• Keller High School claimed the top spot in the boy's 4x800-meter relay with a time of 7:49.52. Keller's top finish also broke the previous Mike A. Myers Stadium record of 7:51.69, which was set in 2012 by Katy Cinco Ranch High School.
• The men's 4x100-meter relay saw the top two fastest times in the nation this year, as Florida claimed the top spot with a time of 38.29, just edging out Texas A&M who finished in 38.30. Both times broke the previous Texas Relays record of 38.30.
• Senior Desiree Freier of Justin Northwest broke the girl's pole vault national record winning Section A with a clearance of 14-3.25 (4.35m), a half inch higher than the previous national record of 14-2.75 (4.33m) set by Morgana LeLeux of New Iberia in 2011. Freier's jump also smashed the Mike A. Myers Stadium record (13-4/4.06m) set in 2007 and the Texas Relays record (13-8/4.16m) set in 2013.
• In the women's Invitational 4x100-meter relay, Pretty Girls won with a time of 43.51, which marks the fastest 4x100-meter relay time this year.
• Texas' Marielle Hall placed first in University/College Section A 1500 meters in 4:17.10 to set a new personal record and grab the nation's best time of the year.
• Baylor's Trayvon Bromell captured the men's University/College 100 meters in a Texas Relays record 10.01, a time which also tied the World Junior record. Bromell shares the mark with Darrel Brown, Jeff Demps and Yoshihide Kiryu.
• Florida established a new nation's best time in the men's 4x400-meter relay in 3:01.26.
• Texas' Briana Nelson, Courtney Okolo, Kendall Baisden, and Ashley Spencer seized the title for the University Invitational 4x400-meter relay in 3:26.38, which marks the third best time in school history.
• Attendance for the four-day meet was 39,985, which included a crowd of 20,159 Saturday and 14,401 Friday.
