South Plains College sprinter Lestrod Roland
On winning the men 1600 sprint medley: It's a good feeling. It feels good to win here at the Texas Relays, it's good to win in general. It felt great to come out here and run at the Texas Relays and come up with the win for my team, and it's a great opportunity to be here. I thank the Texas Relays for inviting us, I hope they invite us next year so we can do our best again.
Texas A&M sprinter Ibukun Mayungbe
On winning the women 1600 sprint medley: This is our first time winning the sprint medley so it's definitely exciting. We are all happy and everybody ran well. We had a good race and that's all that matters.
Arkansas sprinter Travis Southard
On winning men sprint medley invitational: It feels great, just coming off a good indoor season with second place. We got excellent teammates here. All around good race. Feels good to get out here on an outdoor track. It was a great overall team effort. we are very pleased.
Ole Miss pole vaulter Sam Kendricks
On winning the pole vault: I jumped here last year and I had so much fun. I jumped my highest and I was hoping to come back here and surpass that effort and I did. I didn't quite jump my personal record, and I think it was one of my good chances to do it, but I still had fun in this great competition. I'm just happy to compete at a high level every time.
Texas hurdler Danielle Dowie
On winning 400-meter hurdles: You want to show out because it's your home track and everybody wants to win. Your friends, your classmates, everybody is watching. I was able to come in and stay focused and do what I needed to do. I know the crowd was with me, so I was okay no matter what. The main thing for me was to be competitive and work on the first half of my race. The last half wasn't too pretty, but winning doesn't always has to be pretty.
Kansas hurdler Michael Stigler
On winning 400-meter hurdles: To win here at Texas Relays is great. It's a great track facility, great place to run. The weather here is great. You can never complain when you come to Texas relays. Winning takes a lot of effort, concentration, preparation, listening to our coach, and the execution of my race.
Texas thrower Ryan Crouser
On winning the shot put: I opened up with a nice, easy throw and I built on it. My second throw was an improvement on my first. Third, fourth and fifth I struggled a little bit. I was probably trying too hard. In my last throw a thought I had nothing left to lose. I thought that on that one I could really drive through it, and it was a pretty great throw."
On setting a Texas record: It was awesome, every time you break the school record at Texas, that's something good. Even more when you do it at Texas Relays. I feel good about tonight. With the last shot, you turn on your back, your mind is just completely blank, and you are not thinking anything. Since it came out of my hands, I just knew it was a great throw and that was really a special feeling.
