AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Men's Tennis (18-3, 2-0 Big 12) defeated No. 21 Oklahoma State (18-3, 1-1) on Sunday afternoon at Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
The 11th-ranked Longhorns improve to 7-3 against top-25 opponents and have won 10 of their last 11 matches.
After dropping the doubles point for the first time in three matches, the Longhorns rallied to win four of the six singles matches, including a match-clinching win from sophomore Nick Naumann at the No. 5 position.
Texas held a slim advantage in the team tally, 3-2, with Naumann playing in a third set against OSU's Brady Bohrnstedt. Naumann rallied from a three-point deficit in the third set to win the decisive set, 6-4, and give the Longhorns a 4-2 team lead. The Woodlands, Texas native has won his last five singles matches and has a team-best 16 singles wins in dual match play.
"It was a great effort by Nick today," head coach Michael Center said. "He has been in those situations a lot over the course of two seasons, so he is gaining confidence and learning the importance of managing emotions well. Oklahoma State has a great team this season and we were lucky to win today."
The Longhorns also picked up key singles victories from No. 21 Søren Hess-Olesen, Adrien Berkowicz and Clement Homs. The four Longhorns with singles victories on Sunday (Naumann, Hess-Olesen, Berkowicz and Homs) combine for a 54-9 record during dual match play this season.
Texas will bring a 10-0 home record into the final regular season match at Penick-Allison Tennis Center on Saturday, April 5 against TCU (11:30 a.m. Central, Longhorn Network).
