Texas closes out six-match home stand Sunday against Yale.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 17 Michigan (8-2) defeated No. 24 Texas (4-8) by a 7-0 count Saturday afternoon at UT's Edgar O. and Melanie A. Weller Tennis Center. The match was relocated off campus to UT's indoor facility due to inclement weather.
Saturday's contest marked the Longhorns' eighth match of the season against a top-20 team. Texas has faced a top-30 opponent in 11 of its 12 matches this season.
Michigan won two of three doubles matches to win the doubles point. The remaining match at third doubles was suspended. The Wolverines won at fourth, fifth and second positions to clinch the team victory.
Freshman Neda Koprcina, senior Juliana Gajic and sophomore Breaunna Addison forced third sets at the third, sixth and first singles positions, but Michigan prevailed by narrow margins on all three courts to close out the match.
Texas closes out its six-match home stand on Sunday against Yale. First serve is set for noon CT. Barring inclement weather, the match will be played outdoors at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
