Former cornerback Carrington Byndom agreed to a free-agent contract with the Carolina Panthers after the 2014 NFL Draft, the team announced Monday.
A three-year starter and two-time All-Big 12 performer with Texas, Byndom had more than 50 tackles each of his last three seasons and tallied 29 career pass breakups.
The Lufkin, Texas, native started the final 39 games of his career and played in 51 over his four years.
He was a second team All-Big 12 selection by the league's coaches in 2013 after finishing second on the team in solo tackles (45) and in pass breakups (seven). He was named to the preseason watch list for the 2013 Thorpe Award, which honors the top defensive back in the nation.
Byndom was a first-team All-Big 12 selection as a sophomore when he tied for the team lead with 15 pass breakups to go along with a career-high 58 tackles, including eight tackles for loss, two interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He was tied for 17th nationally with 17 passes defended in 2011.
Byndom had five career interceptions and returned two of those for touchdowns. He is one of eight players in school history with two or more career interception returns for scores.
