Seniors, Victoria lead No. 2 Volleyball in 3-0 win at New Mexico

Victoria, Eckerman and Bell post strong night in sweep over Lobos.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Sophomore Pilar Victoria and seniors Haley Eckerman and Khat Bell led No. 2 Texas Volleyball past New Mexico on Friday, 3-0.
Victoria earned double-digit kills and digs for the second match of the day after posting 12 kills and 10 digs versus New Mexico and 14 kills and 10 digs against UTEP earlier in the day.
Eckerman notched nine kills, five digs, two blocks and one ace, while Bell had nine kills and four blocks.
Texas came out on fire in the first set, roaring out to a 5-0 lead. The Lobos responded, but never led and the Longhorns finished the first set, 25-21. Victoria had five kills, while Eckerman had four.
The Longhorns dominated set two, as they took an 18-4 lead before the Lobos made a run. Bell and sophomore Paulina Prieto Cerame each posted four kills in the set, while sophomore Nicole Dalton had five digs and Eckerman four. Texas took set two, 25-13.
In the third set, UT again took the lead after five different players recorded kills in the first 10 points. The Longhorns finished out the set, 25-17 and took the match, 3-0.
Junior Molly McCage posted four blocks and three kills for Texas, sophomore Chiaka Ogbogu finished with five kills, four digs and three blocks and sophomore Paulina Prieto Cerame had six kills and two blocks.
Texas will play its final match at the Lobo Classic on Saturday versus Seattle University at 4:30 p.m. CT. LIVE STATS

On the season opener: "I'm really pleased with the way we came out and played tonight in front of a good crowd. I thought our concentration and level of execution this early in the season was good. There are a lot of things we can keep working on, but overall, it was a very good match for us."

On her performance today: "I'm very excited. It feels great to win as a team, playing our own game. I am so excited for the rest of the season. Compared to last year, I feel better. I feel more comfortable and more trust for my teammates and coaches. I am seeing things from a different perspective than I did my freshman year."
