Pair of Women’s Basketball signees named McDonald’s All-Americans

Signees Lashann Higgs (Round Rock, Texas) and Jordan Hosey (Pearland, Texas) named to the McDonald’s All American Game roster on Wednesday.

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Texas Women's Basketball signees Lashaan Higgs (Round Rock, Texas) and Jordan Hosey (Pearland, Texas) were selected to play in the 14th Annual McDonald's All American Game on Wednesday. The nation's top annual high school basketball all-star event will be played at Chicago's United Center on April 1 (ESPNU).
Higgs and Hosey are the 13th and 14th McDonald's All Americans that have signed with Texas. It marks the second consecutive year that two UT signees have been selected in the same year after current freshmen Ariel Atkins and Brooke McCarty were selected in 2014. Five McDonald's All-Americans are slated to be on the Longhorns' roster next season -- Atkins, Higgs, Hosey, McCarty and Imani McGee-Stafford.
Higgs is the No. 6 overall recruit and the third-ranked guard in the class of 2015 (ESPN.com). The Round Rock, Texas native is a two-time All-State performer and entered her senior season as a Sporting News Preseason High School All-American. As a junior at Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock, Higgs garnered Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Class 5A All-State honors after averaging 22.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 4.9 steals. As a freshman at The Kinkaid School in Houston, Higgs was named to the TABC Small Private School All-State team after averaging 19.6 points and 10.6 rebounds.
Hosey, a 6-foot-1 forward for Manvel High School, is ranked No. 8 overall and ranked-fourth at the forward position in the class of 2015 (ESPN.com). Entering her senior season, she has led Manvel to a combined 105-9 record over a three-year span; including a 38-2 mark in 2013-14 to claim the Texas UIL Class 5A state title. Hosey averaged 14.2 points and 7.0 rebounds as a junior, earning TABC All-State and UIL All-Tournament honors along the way.
The 2015 team was selected from the field of more than 800 Nominees by the McDonald's All American Games Selection Committee, led by committee chairman, Morgan Wootten, legendary Hall-of-Fame basketball coach. Since 1978, more than 1, 150 players have competed in the McDonald's All American Games.
