Softball blasts its way past Blinn College in fall action, 19-4

Longhorns offense bangs out 14 hits, scores in each of the last five innings during rout
AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas offense banged out a fall-best 14 hits and senior first baseman/outfielder Holly Kern and junior pitcher Tiarra Davis each knocked in three runs as the Longhorns rolled past Blinn College, 19-4, on Thursday night in fall action at Red & Charline McCombs Field.
Each half-inning started with various runners stationed on base as the two squads practiced defensive situations. UT pitchers allowed four unearned runs on four hits with sophomore hurler Paige von Sprecken permitting two hits and two tallies over three innings of work as the starter with a pair of K's.
Sophomore Kristen Clark permitted a single run on two hits over 2.0 frames, while Davis allowed one run and punched out five over the final two innings.
Kern was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs and Davis was 1-for-1 with a double and three RBIs to power the offensive assault. Junior left fielder Stephanie Wong was 3-for-4 with a triple and a RBI, sophomore catcher/third baseman Randel Leahy was 2-for-2 with a triple and a RBI, freshman outfielder Bekah Alcozer was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and junior first baseman/outfielder Taylor McAllister was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
The Longhorns continue their fall campaign next Thurs., Oct. 22, by hosting St. Mary's at 6:30 p.m. CT at McCombs Field.
