AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 11/11 University of Texas women's basketball team looks to get off to a 2-0 start for the fourth consecutive season when it faces Southland Conference member Northwestern State on Wednesday at 11 a.m. CT in Austin's Frank Erwin Center.
Wednesday's game marks the fifth-annual 40 Acres Field Trip, where Texas Athletics and the Frank Erwin Center open their doors to approximately 5,000 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th graders in Central Texas for exposure to college athletics and a unique experience with higher education. The Longhorns (1-0) are coming off a 90-53 season-opening win against UT-San Antonio on Saturday night at the Erwin Center. Sophomore guard Brooke McCarty scored a career-high 22 points and brought down a career-high seven rebounds, while senior post Imani Boyette turned in her 28th career double-double.
Boyette is 33 points away from becoming the 38th player in Texas history to join the exclusive 1,000-point club. She enters Wednesday's game with 967 career points.
Texas and Northwestern State are meeting for the fourth time in the history of the two programs. The Longhorns lead the all-time series 3-0, including a 74-34 win in Austin last December.
Northwestern State enters Wednesday's game with a 1-1 record, having opened the year with a 73-44 victory against LeTourneau, before falling on the road to SMU, 74-36, on Sunday evening. Junior guard Beatrice Attura is averaging a squad-best 17.0 ppg, while freshman forward Emerald Mayfield adds 10.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg. Sophomore forward Tia Youngblood is Northwestern State's leading rebounder at 8.5 rebounds per game.

- Texas ranks sixth all-time in NCAA Division I women's basketball history with 982 wins. The Longhorns are one of only 13 programs nationally to have eclipsed the 900-victory plateau. Texas is looking to join the exclusive club of three teams who have achieved the 1,000-win milestone.
