Longhorns place 10 on 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Football Team

Texas continues to lead the conference in both total and first-team selections over the last 10 years.
IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference announced its 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Football Team on Thursday, and Texas had 10 selections, including five on the first team.
Players earning first-team honors were CB John Bonney, FB Dominic Cruciani, LB Trey Gonzales, TE Logan Mills and OL Jake Raulerson. The second team included OG Sedrick Flowers, RB D'Onta Foreman, DT Desmond Jackson, DB Tyler Marriott and CB Duke Thomas.
Over the last 10 years combined, Texas has led the conference in both total selections and first-team choices. During that span, the Longhorns have had 186 total honorees, including 121 on the first team. The next closest in both categories is Kansas with 168 total and 100 on the first team. Kansas State led both categories in 2015. For individual years, Texas has led in both categories in five of those 10.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade-point average while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
