Texas opens next season’s conference schedule at Oklahoma State on Oct. 1; regular season begins at home against Notre Dame
IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference office announced the 2016 league football schedule Tuesday.
Next year's conference slate begins on Oct. 1 when the Longhorns travel to Stillwater to face Oklahoma State. The annual AT&T Red River Showdown against Oklahoma in Dallas will follow on Oct. 8.
Texas opens its home conference schedule against Iowa State on Oct. 15, and then alternates home and away games for the rest of the season. That starts with a contest at K-State on Oct. 22, before returning home to play Baylor on Oct. 29.
The final month of the season begins on the road at Texas Tech (Nov. 5) before hosting West Virginia (Nov. 12), visiting Kansas (Nov. 19) and finishing the regular season with a short week on Thanksgiving Day at home against TCU (Nov. 24).
Texas begins 2016 with three non-conference games, including a pair at home. The season opener is set for Sept. 4 when Notre Dame visits Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for the first time since 1996. The next week (Sept. 10), the Longhorns host UTEP in Austin. The road schedule begins at California on Sept. 17, which will be the first time UT has played in Berkeley since 1969. The Longhorns will have a bye week on Sept. 24 between the non-conference and conference schedules.
