PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – The Texas Longhorns avenged their international season-opening defeat in Shanghai against the Washington Huskies with an 82-70 victory over the Huskies on Thursday night in the consolation round of the Battle 4 Atlantis at Atlantis' Imperial Arena.
Eric Davis, Jr. led the Longhorns (2-2) in scoring for the second night in a row with 15 points. A total of four Longhorns scored in double figures, including Cameron Ridley, who recorded his 15th career double-double by scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Isaiah Taylor finished the night with 14 points, and Javan Felix had 13 points, four assists without a turnover and three steals in the win.
Andrew Andrews led the Huskies (3-2) with 20 points, six rebounds and five assists. Washington was held to 40.7-percent shooting from the floor (24-of-59) and turned the ball over 18 times.
After starting the game shooting 21.4-percent from the floor (3-of-14), the Longhorns caught fire and went on a 14-0 run over 3:11 to take a 22-13 lead with 9:42 remaining in the first half. Texas led by as many as 15 and held a potent Huskies offense to 33.3-percent shooting (10-of-30) while building a 41-31 advantage at the half.
The Huskies knocked down three consecutive shots from beyond the arc to close the Longhorns' lead to 46-42 with 15:55 remaining. Washington finished shooting 41.7-percent (10-of-24) from long range territory on the night.
The score remained close until Texas used a 7-0 run, capped by a follow slam from Ridley, to put Texas up 64-53 with 8:28 remaining. The Longhorns finished with the advantage in second-chance points by a margin of 18-3.
Texas extended its lead to 70-57 with 5:36 left in the game after a 3-pointer from Kerwin Roach, Jr. Washington's Andrews was able to score eight points in the Huskies' next three possessions to bring the Huskies to within six (74-68), but Texas was able to pull away for the 82-70 victory.
The Longhorns were sent to the free-throw line often, converting 71.4-percent of their attempts (30-of-42) while the Huskies converted 70.6-percent of their attempts (12-of-17). Washington committed 32 fouls and had four players foul out.
The Longhorns shot 40-percent from three-point range (6-of-15) and recorded a 37-13 advantage in bench points scoring, thanks to contributions from freshmen Davis, Roach (8 points and 5 rebounds) and Tevin Mack (7 points).
The Longhorns advance to the fifth-place game of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament where they will face Michigan. Tip is set for Friday at 6 p.m. Central, and the game will be televised nationally by AXS TV.

With the win, UT advances to play Michigan in the 5th-Place Game on Friday, Nov. 27. Tip is set for 6 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised nationally by AXS TV.
Tonight's game marked the second contest in the past 13 days against Washington. The Huskies won the season opener for both teams on Nov. 13 (Nov. 14 in China) in Shanghai, 77-71.
After losing the rebounding battle by a 62-51 margin (21-18 advantage for Washington in second-chance points) in the season opener, the Longhorns registered a 40-36 margin on the glass and an 18-3 advantage in second-chance points during Thursday night's win.
Texas converted 30-of-42 free throws, while Washington was 12-of-17 from the stripe.
UT posted a 37-13 advantage in bench scoring.
