Two former players sign with NFL teams

Curtis Brown signed a free-agent contract with the NY Jets; Hightower hired by San Francisco 49ers as assistant special teams coach
Former Texas Football players Curtis Brown and Richard Hightower have found new homes in the NFL.
Brown, who was selected in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, signed a free-agent contract with the New York Jets on Tuesday. One day earlier, Hightower was named the assistant special teams coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers.
A four-year cornerback (2007-10) with the Longhorns, including his final two as a starter, Brown was out of the NFL last season after tearing the ACL in his left knee in November, 2013, while with the Steelers. He was released by Pittsburgh in March, 2014, after playing in 34 career games during his three years with the team.
Hightower spent the 2014 season with the Cleveland Browns as an offensive quality control coach. He served the previous four seasons with the Washington Redskins, including two (2010-11) as an assistant special teams coach and the final two (2012-13) as assistant defensive backs/assistant special team coach. He lettered three years (2000-02) as a wide receiver with the Longhorns.
