CHICAGO, Ill. -- Ninth-ranked Texas Men's Tennis swept No. 16 Penn State, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon in the consolation draw of the ITA National Indoor Championship.
The Longhorns (8-1) earned the doubles point and won on singles lines one, two and three. UT's first three lines of singles play are a combined 24-2 this season, including a 18-0 mark at lines one and two.
Texas took an early 1-0 lead after taking the doubles point behind respective 6-3 wins from Lloyd Glasspool and Søren Hess-Olesen at No. 1 doubles, and Adrien Berkowicz and George Goldhoff at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, Glasspool set the tone with a quick 6-4, 6-4, win over Mikael Torpegaard at line No. 2. Hess-Olesen followed with his 11th consecutive singles victory, defeating 81st-ranked Leonard Stakhovsky, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 1 singles.
No. 65 Adrien Berkowicz clinched the match for Texas with another straight-set win over Matt Barry, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 3 singles.
Texas will conclude play in the ITA National Indoor Championship against Columbia in the consolation round on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Central.
