Turner posts second straight double-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks, while Yancy ties a career high with 14 points.
NORMAN, Okla. – Freshman forward Myles Turner posted his second straight double-double with a game-high 17 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks and sophomore guard Kendal Yancy tied his career high with 14 points, but a late 10-0 run pushed the No. 17/17 Oklahoma Sooners past the Texas Longhorns, 71-69, on Tuesday night at the Lloyd Noble Center.
In a seesaw battle that saw 20 lead changes and nine ties, Texas (17-9, 6-7 Big 12) led 64-58 with 3:34 remaining. The Sooners (18-8, 9-5 Big 12) closed out the game with a 13-5 run to grab the victory.
Yancy, who reached double figures for the second time in three games, also tied his career high in field goals made (6-of-14) and grabbed six rebounds in 35 minutes. Javan Felix added 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 2-of-2 from deep, while Jonathan Holmes posted a game-high 11 rebounds.
Turner shot 5-of-9 from the field and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the line. The freshman forward has averaged 21.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game over the last two contests.
Texas, the nation's leader in blocks per game, matched a school single-game record with 13 rejections. This marked the fourth time in school history that UT has recorded 13 blocks. It also set a school record for most blocks in a Big 12 Conference game, topping the previous record of 12, set six times previously. Six UT players registered a block, including a career high-tying six by Turner.
The Longhorns shot 43.6 from the field (24-of-55), while the defense held the Sooners to a 36.1 percentage (22-of-61). The Horns posted a 40-37 advantage on the glass, but 13 turnovers proved costly as Oklahoma outscored Texas 18-6 in points off turnovers.
In a back-and-forth opening period that saw five ties and 12 lead changes, neither team led by more than five. The Sooners would close out the half with five unanswered points to take a 33-32 advantage heading into the locker room.
In the opening period, the Longhorns shot 48.1 percent (13-of-27) while holding the Sooners to 33.4 percent (11-of-32). The Horns were led by Yancy and Demarcus Holland, who each scored six points, including 2-of-2 from deep from Holland.
Seven minutes into the second half, the Longhorns would use a 12-5 run, led by seven points form Turner, to take a 58-51 lead, After Texas led for over a 10-minute stretch, the Sooners tied it at 64-64with 2:31 remaining.
Jordan Woodard led the Sooners with 13 points and five assists.
The Longhorns return to action when they host No. 14/14 Iowa State on Saturday, Feb. 21. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. Central at the Frank Erwin Center, and the contest will be nationally televised on ESPN2.

The Longhorns tied their school single-game record for most blocked shots (13). This marked the second time this season that UT has tied the single-game mark (13 vs. UT Arlington on Dec. 2). The Horns previously blocked 13 shots twice prior to this season (vs. UTSA on Dec. 29, 2004 and vs. California on Nov. 15, 2000).
Texas set a school record for most blocked shots in a Big 12 Conference game. The previous high was 12 (six times previously including earlier in the year – at Oklahoma State on Jan. 10).
UT has now reached double figures in blocked shots a total of five times in its first 26 contests this season.
The Horns have now held 18 of their first 26 opponents to below 40% FG shooting this year. Texas dropped to 15-3 this season and 252-29 in the Rick Barnes era when holding its opponent below 40% FG shooting. The Horns limited Oklahoma to 36.1% FG shooting (22-of-61) on the evening.
