K-State defeats No. 20/16 Women’s Basketball, 66-57

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- No. 20/16 Texas Women's Basketball lost to K-State, 66-57, on Wednesday night at Bramlage Coliseum.
Texas (15-6, 4-6 Big 12) was led by a trio of student-athletes who combined for 46 of UT's 57 points on the night. Freshman guard Ariel Atkins scored 18 points with seven rebounds in 35 minutes. Junior center Imani McGee-Stafford posted 14 points, seven rebounds and seven blocks in 28 minutes. Sophomore center Kelsey Lang scored 14 points with nine rebounds in 34 minutes.
The game featured 10 lead changes and seven ties before K-State finished on a 19-11 run in the last seven minutes of the game.
The Longhorns came out of the gates shooting 46 percent from the field (13-28 FG) in the first half for a 28-25 halftime lead. But UT finished the night with a 37 percent clip from the field after a cold second half -- 30 percent on 11-of-36 shooting from the floor. K-State's 41 second-half points are the most Texas has surrendered in a single half this season.
K-State's Kindred Wesemann made eight 3-point field goals and finished with a game-high 25 points for the Wildcats (14-7, 4-6 Big 12).
Texas returns home on Sunday to host No. 3/3 Baylor at 1 p.m. Central on ESPN2.
