Junior center Imani McGee-Stafford registers double-double in road loss at West Virginia.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Junior center Imani McGee-Stafford posted her fourth double-double of the conference season, but West Virginia rallied late during its home finale to upset No. rv/24 Texas Women's Basketball in overtime on Sunday afternoon, 76-69.
McGee-Stafford scored a team-high 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting with 12 rebounds and three blocks in 30 minutes off the bench for the Longhorns. Freshman guard Ariel Atkins (15 points), sophomore center Kelsey Lang (14), and freshman guard Brooke McCarty (11) added to UT's four double-figure scoring efforts.
Texas (19-9, 8-9 Big 12) ends a four-game winning streak and falls out of a four-way tie for third in the Big 12 standings with one regular season game remaining.
The Longhorns closed the first half on a 9-2 run and went into halftime with a 33-25 lead. UT shot 12-of-24 from the field, and 8-of-8 at the free throw line during the first half. McGee-Stafford scored 12 of her 19 total points in the first half to pace UT.
Texas worked its way to a 14-point lead at the 8:57 mark of the second half before West Virginia ended regulation on a 23-9 run to force overtime. The Mountaineers opened the overtime period with back-to-back three-pointers to all but seal a 76-69 victory.
West Virginia (17-12, 7-10) featured a pair of 19-point efforts from Bria Holmes and Averee Fields.
The Longhorns return home for Senior Day at the Erwin Center during the regular season finale against TCU on Tuesday (7 p.m. Central, Longhorn Network).
