Texas-Ex Laura Sogar wins 200m breaststroke at USA Swimming National Championships

Laura Sogar posts the No. 14 time in the world, adds a U.S. crown to her 2013 NCAA title in the 200-yard breaststroke.
SAN ANTONIO – Texas-Ex Laura Sogar claimed her first U.S. national title and won the 200-meter breaststroke Monday night during the final session of competition at the 2015 USA Swimming National Championships.
Sogar led from wire-to-wire and won the event in 2 minutes, 23.54 seconds, the 14th-fastest time in the world this year that eclipsed her two-year-old personal best by well over a second. The 2013 Big 12 Swimmer of the Year adds her first U.S. crown to go with her 2013 NCAA title in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Sogar was a silver medalist for the U.S. in the 200m breaststroke at the 2013 World University Games, where she added bronze in the 100m breaststroke.
UT junior Madisyn Cox added a sixth-place time of 2:29.03 in the 200m breaststroke consolation final.
