Keeper's 90-plus yard punt was named No. 10 on ESPN Sportscenter's Top 10 Plays on Sunday
AUSTIN, Texas - Texas senior goalkeeper Abby Smith made quite the national splash on Sunday evening after the video of her 90-plus yard punt to score the Longhorns' match-winning goal, during the 61st minute of an eventual 1-0 win over Miami (FL), ended up ranked at No. 10 on ESPN Sportscenter's Top 10 Plays for Sunday.
Having gathered the ball inside her own 18 on a save, the Plano, Texas, product unleashed a long drive with the breeze at her back. With UT freshman forwards Alexa Adams and Mikayla Flores pressing hard up field, the ball landed behind the defensive backline, bounced up and over the keeper and eventually rolled into the twine for the eventual match-winning score.
