Longhorns win season opener, wrap day-night doubleheader this evening against Lamar.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 12 Texas (1-0) swept the doubles session and cruised through six singles contests en route to a 7-0 season-opening win over Abilene Christian Tuesday afternoon at Weller Indoor Tennis center on the grounds of The University of Texas Golf Club. Texas welcomes Lamar in the second match of its day-night doubleheader today at 6 p.m. (Weller Indoor).

The Longhorns clinched the doubles point at the second slot, where junior George Goldhoff and redshirt freshman Julian Zlobinsky notched a 6-3 win over Paul Domanski and Jason Proctor. Texas wrapped the doubles session with a 7-6 (2) win from freshmen Colin Markes and Harrison Scott over Brad Gleason and Sebastian Langdon.
Texas pushed its lead to 2-0 behind freshman Johnny Goodwin's 6-1, 6-0 win over ACU's Cole Lawson at sixth singles. Texas head coach Michael Center
I think overall, it was a good day. We saw a lot of guys that played their first college dual match today. We were a little nervous at the beginning, and it took a little work to get our first break in the doubles. I thought we finished the doubles pretty well. In singles, we got stronger as the day went on, so that was a good sign. We got a lot of people to play and we'll be excited to come back and play a little bit more tonight.
