Men’s Tennis Preview: ITA Texas Regional Championships

Horns head to Fort Worth for annual event featuring every Division I men’s tennis program in the state.
WHAT: Texas resumes fall tournament play this weekend at the ITA Texas Regional Championships. The event contests singles and doubles draws whose winners will advance to next month's USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in New York City.

Friday, Oct. 21 through Monday, Oct. 24
Friedman Tennis Center – Fort Worth, Texas (hosted by TCU)
WHO: The tournament features all of the state's NCAA Division I men's tennis schools – Texas, Baylor, Texas A&M, SMU, TCU, UTSA, Texas Tech, Incarnate Word, UT-Rio Grande Valley, UT Arlington, Abilene Christian, Rice, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Lamar.
LAST TIME OUT
Texas freshman Yuya Ito won his opening match before falling in the second round of the singles draw at the Oracle ITA Masters event in Malibu, California.
Prior to that event, Ito and Sigsgaard qualified for the main singles draw at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa. Ito reached the round of 16 while Sigsgaard won four matches in the main draw and advanced all the way to the semifinals.
Sigsgaard, by way of advancing beyond the round of 16 at the All-American, has already secured a berth to compete at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships.
