Texas and Duke most recently faced off at the 2006 ITA National Team Indoor Championship, where the Longhorns defeated the Blue Devils (4-3) to advance to the tournament championship match.
ADDISON JUMPS TO NO. 8 IN LATEST I.T.A. SINGLES RANKINGS
Texas two-time All-America senior Breaunna Addison climbed to No. 8 in the latest ITA singles rankings released last Wednesday (Feb. 3) and became the first Longhorn featured in the ITA top-10 in five years.
Addison, who had ranked as high as No. 10 in the ITA singles rankings as a sophomore, is the first Longhorn among the nation's top-10 since Aeriel Ellis in January of 2011. MORE HERE
The 2014 Big 12 Player of the Year is off to a 21-2 mark in singles play and carries a 5-0 record in dual matches. Addison is nearing the 100-win mark in her three-plus seasons and boasts a 94-28 career singles record.
MORE ON THE LONGHORNS
First-year head coach Howard Joffe and second-year assistant coach Courtney Dolehide welcome four starters back from the 2015 squad that finished with a No. 37 national ranking. The 2016 squad holds a 3-1 dual-match record with a neutral-site win over Purdue and home wins over Incarnate Word and UTSA.
Two-time All-America senior Breaunna Addison returns at the top of the singles lineup after earning All-Big 12 honors in singles and doubles last season.
The 2014 Big 12 Player of the Year has qualified for the NCAA Championships' 64-player singles draw each of her three seasons as a Longhorn, and she reached the event's semifinals as a first-semester freshman in 2013.
Sophomore Dani Wagland earned All-Big 12 doubles honors alongside Addison last season and is off to a 3-1 start in dual-match play. Junior Neda Koprcina, a former Big 12 champion at No. 4 singles, is out to a 5-0 start this season in dual matches, where she has split time at Nos. 3 and 4 singles.
UT also returns senior Lana Groenvynck and welcomes newcomers Chelsea Crovetti, Daniella Roldan and Katie Poluta.
A LOOK AHEAD
The Longhorns will participate in the Blue-Gray Classic next weekend in Montgomery, Alabama before returning home on March 5 to host Michigan.
