No. 26 Men's Tennis falls to No. 24 California, 4-0

Longhorns host No. 18 Stanford on Sunday afternoon at Weller Indoor Tennis Center.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 26 Texas (4-5) notched a doubles win and threatened to pull off upset victories on multiple courts, but No. 24 California (3-1) dealt the Longhorns a 4-0 defeat Saturday afternoon at Weller Indoor Tennis Center.
UT sophomore Adrian Ortiz teamed with senior Michael Riechmann to post a 6-2 win over Cal's Filip Bergevi and Florian Lakat, but Cal won at the remaining two positions to nail down the doubles point.
Texas and Cal split the first two sets on five of six courts, though Cal assumed a 2-0 lead with a straight-sets win at third singles. UT's Harrison Scott went to a third set with the Golden Bears' third-ranked Andre Goransson at second singles, but Goransson took the final set, 3-0 to push the Cal lead to 3-0.
Texas' Ortiz forced a third set against Cal's 39th-ranked Billy Griffith at fourth singles, but Griffith took the final set, 6-3 and put away the 4-0 Golden Bears win. The remaining courts were suspended.
Texas hosts Stanford on Sunday (1 p.m. CT) at Weller Indoor Tennis Center.

Once again it was kind of a similar match to what we've seen lately. We played really hard. We were in position (to win) on a lot of courts, but we're just having a hard time finishing these matches. We're making some mistakes early in the doubles and we're getting down and fighting back. We're just having a hard time crossing the finish line. We're competing with the teams but have to find a way to get it done in the end. We've got another great chance tomorrow against Stanford; just have to keep going at this point.
