Paul Jetton was a two-time All-SWC guard at Texas.
Former Texas Longhorns offensive lineman Paul Jetton, 51, passed away on May 13, in Wimberley, Texas.
Jetton, from Jersey Village, was a four-year letter winner at UT from 1984-1987. He was named All-Southwest Conference in his junior and senior seasons.
"Paul Jetton was one of the toughest and meanest - in a fair way - that I have ever been around," said former head coach David McWilliams. "I always thought he would have been a great defensive lineman."
Jetton was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the sixth round of the 1988 NFL Draft. He played three seasons for the Bengals before joining the New Orleans Saints in 1992 where he played for two more seasons.
"The courage he has shown over the last several years attests to his character and his love for his family," said McWilliams.
"We are all going to miss him because of the inspiration he provided for us."
Jetton is survived by his wife Sherri and his three children; Conner, Laura and Clayton. Survivors also include his three stepchildren; Mandie, Barron and Caiti; his mother, brother and sister in law; and many loving family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 1p.m. at the Cypress Creek Church, 211 Stillwater, Wimberley, Texas.
