An All-American offensive lineman from Silsbee, Texas, Hudson has signed a financial aid agreement with the Longhorns.
Texas Football has added high school All-America OL Patrick Hudson (Silsbee, Texas) to its 2016 signing class, head coach Charlie Strong announced Wednesday. Hudson has signed a financial aid agreement and is expected to enroll in the University's second summer session in July.
"We're really excited to have Patrick joining our program," Strong said. "Patrick coming to Texas, along with J.P. (Urquidez) and Donovan (Duvernay) earlier this week, are tremendous additions to an already impressive class of 2016. Patrick and J.P. are two big, physical, talented linemen, and Donovan is an explosive athlete who has played on both sides. We're looking forward to getting them on campus and working with the team."
Hudson was selected to participate in the 2016 Under Armour All-America Game after anchoring an offense that averaged 54.0 points per game, including three games of 60 or more points as a senior at Silsbee High School.
Following the season, USA Today chose him to the All-USA Texas First Team, while he was selected third-team 4A All-State by the Texas Sports Writers Association and honorable mention by the Associated Press. He also earned honorable mention Academic All-State honors that year.
In 2014, Hudson was chosen to MaxPreps Junior All-America First Team and was a unanimous first-team All-District 10-4A Division I honoree. That came on the heels of a sophomore season where he was named Offensive Newcomer of the Year in District 21-3A. While at Silsbee, Hudson was one of the top powerlifters in the state, finishing as high as second in 2015 in the Texas High School Powerlifting Association Championships Division 2 Super Heavyweight class.
A consensus top-70 recruit nationally, and top 10 in the state of Texas, Hudson was ranked as the top offensive guard in the country by ESPN.
