Longhorns in the NFL: Regular Season Wrap-Up

Eight Longhorns are on playoff rosters while the rest wrapped up their 2016 NFL seasons on Sunday.
The 2016 NFL season concluded on Sunday with 31 Longhorns on rosters. Despite a year where 10 Longhorns ended the season on injured reserve, 19 players were on the active rosters around the league to end the regular season. Eight Longhorns are on playoff rosters, in addition to Kyle Shanahan, the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons.
Active Roster
Sam Acho – Chicago Bears
Made two tackles in the Bears 38-10 loss in week 17 at Minnesota … finished his sixth NFL season with 27 total tackles for Chicago … played in all 16 games and made six starts.
Malcolm Brown – Los Angeles Rams
Played in all 16 games for the Los Angeles Rams … had five attempts for 11 yards in Sunday's loss to Arizona … totaled 39 rushing yards and 46 receiving yards on the season … the Rams finished 4-12 during their first season playing in Los Angeles.
Malcom Brown – New England Patriots
Made three solo tackles in the Patriots 35-14 win at Miami in week 17 … helped New England wrap up the No. 1 seed in the AFC and home field advantage with a 14-2 record … totaled 50 tackles in his second NFL season with three sacks and a forced fumble … the Patriots will host the Divisional Round of the AFC playoffs after a bye week during the Wild Card round.
Phil Dawson – San Francisco 49ers
Finished his 18th NFL season making all three extra points in a 25-23 loss to Seattle … 49ers finished 2-14 … was 18-for-21 on field goal attempts on the season and 33-for-34 on extra point attempts … had 41 kickoffs on the season.
Marquise Goodwin – Buffalo Bills
Wrapped up his fourth NFL season with one reception for eight yards in a 30-10 setback against the New York Jets … finished the 2016 season playing in 15 games with nine starts, both career highs … also had a career-high 29 receptions for 431 yards and three touchdowns … averaged 14.9 yards per reception … the Bills finished the season 7-9 overall.
Michael Griffin – Carolina Panthers
Concluded his 10th NFL season on Sunday, as the Panthers lost 17-16 on the road at Tampa Bay … had eight solo tackles in the week 17 loss … totaled 40 tackles in 13 games played … started six for the Panthers, who finished the season 6-10.
Donald Hawkins – New York Jets
Played in seven games with the Carolina Panthers during his second NFL season … finished the regular season on the active roster of the Jets, but did not appear in a game for New York.
Jordan Hicks – Philadelphia Eagles
Totaled five tackles and two interceptions in a week 17 win over Dallas to close the regular season … started all 16 games for the Eagles, who finished 7-9 … led all NFL linebackers with five interceptions … had a career-high 85 tackles.

Tony Hills – New Orleans Saints
Played in 11 games for the Saints during his eighth NFL season … New Orleans finished the season 7-9 and missed out on the playoffs.
Trey Hopkins – Cincinnati Bengals
Was elevated to the active roster prior to week 17 against the Baltimore Ravens … played in one game during the 2016 season.
Colt McCoy – Washington Redskins
Wrapped up his seventh NFL season and did not appear in a game as the Washington Redskins' backup QB.
Alex Okafor – Arizona Cardinals
Wrapped up his fourth NFL season on Sunday with a 44-6 win at Los Angeles … played in 15 games and totaled 13 tackles on the year … had 3.5 sacks and a forced and recovered fumble … Arizona (7-8-1) missed out on the playoffs.
Brian Orakpo – Tennessee Titans
Finished his eighth NFL season and second with the Tennessee Titans on Sunday with a 24-17 win against Houston … totaled 46 tackles and 10.5 sacks … his sack totals were tied for 13th-most in the NFL and most he's had in a season since totaling 11 in 2009 as a rookie … also had four pass breakups and one forced fumble … Titans finished 9-7 but missed out on the playoffs to the Texans (9-7) in the AFC South.
Adrian Phillips – San Diego Chargers
Finished his third NFL season with the San Diego Chargers on Sunday … totaled a career-high 38 tackles on the season … played in 14 games and started six … had one interception and three more pass breakups … Chargers finished the season 5-11.
Hassan Ridgeway – Indianapolis Colts
Wrapped up his rookie season for the Colts on Sunday … played in all 16 games, making five starts for Indianapolis (8-8) … totaled 21 tackles and 1.5 sacks on the season … also had one pass breakup.
Keenan Robinson – New York Giants
Had seven tackles in a 19-10 win in week 17 at Washington … finished the regular season 11-5 and earned a wild card spot … will travel to Green Bay this weekend … has 83 tackles and seven pass breakups on the season, having started six games.
Brian Robison – Minnesota Vikings
Finished his tenth NFL season on Sunday, totaling four tackles in a 38-10 win over the Chicago Bears … finished the season 8-8 overall … Robison started all 16 games for the fourth consecutive season … had 28 total tackles and 7.5 sacks … also forced three fumbles, tied for a career high.
Justin Tucker – Baltimore Ravens
Finished his fifth NFL season with the Baltimore Ravens making 38-of-39 field goals to lead the NFL … his 38 made field goals tied a career high … set an NFL record by going a perfect 10-for-10 on field goals of more than 50 yards … was also a perfect 27-of-27 on extra point attempts … had 52 touchbacks on 80 kickoffs … will make his second career appearance in the Pro Bowl after the Ravens (8-8) missed out on the playoffs.
Fozzy Whittaker – Carolina Panthers
Played in all 16 games for the Carolina Panthers in his fourth season … totaled 265 rushing yards on 57 attempts and 226 receiving yards on 25 receptions … his rushing attempts, rushing yards, receptions and receiving yards were all career highs.
Injured Reserve
Chykie Brown, Cincinnati Bengals
Played in five total games and made two tackles on the season … played in week 12 against Baltimore but missed the rest of the season after that on injured reserve.
Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs
Had just 12 carries for 40 yards in his ninth NFL season … had knee surgery in November and did not play after week seven … the Chiefs finished 12-4 as AFC West champions and the AFC No. 2 seed, but Charles is not eligible for the playoff roster.
Quandre Diggs, Detroit Lions
Played in 12 games before suffering a season-ending injury for the Detroit Lions … started four games and made 44 total tackles … had one pass breakup and one forced fumble … will remain on injured reserve for the playoffs as the Lions (9-7) will travel to play the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Wild Card round.
Lamarr Houston, Chicago Bears
Was injured in week two and placed on injured reserve for the rest of the season … has now played seven NFL seasons, including the last three with the Chicago Bears.
Derrick Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs
Suffered a season-ending injury in week 14 … had started all 13 games up to that point and totaled 90 tackles on the year … had one sack, three pass breakups and an interception which he returned 55 yards for a touchdown … will watch as the Chiefs finished 12-4 as AFC West champion and will host a Divisional Round playoff game after a bye this upcoming week.
Roy Miller, Jacksonville Jaguars
Finished his eighth NFL season on the injured reserve after suffering a torn Achilles in week seven … started all six games he played in and totaled 10 tackles for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Geoff Swaim, Dallas Cowboys
Was placed on injured reserve after playing in nine games for the NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys … had six receptions for 69 yards … will watch as the 13-3 Cowboys are the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs.
Earl Thomas, Seattle Seahawks
Played in and started all 11 games before suffering a season-ending leg injury … totaled 48 tackles, 10 pass breakups and two interceptions before being placed on injured reserve … the Seahawks finished 10-5-1 and won the NFC West … will watch as the Seahawks host the Detroit Lions in the NFC Wild Card round.
Mykkele Thompson, New York Giants
Played in just one game, a week two matchup with New Orleans … missed the rest of the season on injured reserve … Giants finished 11-5 and as the No. 5 seed … will play the Green Bay Packers to begin the playoffs.
Aaron Williams, Buffalo Bills
Played in seven games before suffering his season-ending injury … started five games and totaled 20 tackles … had five pass breakups and one fumble recovery in his sixth season with the Buffalo Bills.
