Men's Tennis advances five in singles and doubles at ITA Texas Regional Championships

Texas sends three to the singles quarterfinals and two doubles pairs to the semifinals.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas advanced three Longhorns to the singles quarterfinals and a couple of doubles pairs to the semifinals Saturday at the ITA Texas Regional Championships.
Top-seeded Texas junior Harrison Scott won a pair of straight-sets decision to move on to the singles quarterfinals. The Canadian started off his day with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Joao Ceolin of UTSA. Scott finished off Baylor's Constantin Frantzen (6-4, 7-5) to set up a Sunday quarterfinal meeting against his classmate, UT junior Leonardo Telles.
Telles reached the round of 16 by way of his 7-5, 6-2 victory over Texas Tech's Alex Sendegeya. The Brazilian dealt Lamar's Sebastian Santibanez a 6-4, 6-2 defeat to advance to the quarterfinals.
Texas senior John Mee advanced through the bottom half of the singles bracket to Sunday's quarterfinals. The Dallas native knocked off Texas Tech's Artem Kapshuk, 6-1, 6-2 and defeated Abilene Christian's Jonathan Sheehy, 6-1, 6-3. Mee meets Texas A&M's Jordi Arconada in the quarterfinals. All singles quarterfinal matches will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Telles and junior Rodrigo Banzer made short work of UTSA's Ceolin and Kai Breitbach in the doubles quarterfinals and won by an 8-1 count. The Texas tandem will take on A&M's Arconada and Kevin Lam in the semifinals.
Junior Colin Markes, who reached the singles round of 16 before being eliminated, teamed up with junior Adrian Ortiz to knock off TCU's 28th-ranked pair of Alastair Gray and Reese Stalder. Markes and Ortiz will take on Texas Tech's Jackson Cobb and Alex Sendegeya in the semifinals, which are set for Sunday at 9 a.m.
