Schubert leads Women's Golf to fourth-place finish at ANNIKA Intercollegiate

Sophia Schubert recorded her 16th collegiate top-10 finish.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – Senior Sophia Schubert turned in her 16th collegiate top-10 finish to pace the University of Texas women's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, featuring 12 of the nation's top golf teams, on Tuesday at Olympic Hills Golf Club.
The Longhorns posted a nine-over-par three-round total of 873 (300-274-299) that included Monday's 18 holes that marked a school record relative to par at -14. Texas tied No. 13 Furman for fourth place in the event. No. 1 Arkansas captured the team title at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate with a 16-under-par total of 848 (288-282-278).
Schubert tied for seventh place individually with a three-under-par 213 (74-67-72) in her first collegiate event of the season after winning the 2017 U.S. Women's Amateur this past summer and competing in the Evian Championship, one of five LPGA majors, in mid-September. Schubert tallied 14 birdies over the course of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, which which was just behind the tournament-best 15 on the week.
Sophomore Emilee Hoffman finished in 21st place with a three-round total of 219 (75-68-76) and has now finished among the top-25 individually in each of the team's three tournaments this season. Hoffman completed the event with 12 birdies.
Freshman Kaitlyn Papp (77-70-75) and sophomore Greta Isabella Voelker (77-69-76) each finished in a tie for 26th place with three-round totals of 222. Papp led the tournament field with 45 pars on the week.
Freshman Agathe Laisne, the 2017 European Ladies Champion who was competing in her first collegiate event of the season after participating in the Evian Championship, concluded play in a tie for 39th individual with a 227 (74-74-79).
Arkansas golfer Maria Fassi was the event's individual champion with a 10-under-par 206 (70-70-66).

"It was a bittersweet tournament for us this week. We beat some good teams, but we really did not accomplish what we wanted. We had a slow start in round 1 and a nice bounce back in round 2 with a -14. Round 3, particularly the finish, showed me that we need to change some things. We're a young team with lots to clean up as we move through the fall. Individually, Sophia had a very nice week. A top-10 finish in this field is very strong. She is playing at a high level at this moment."
