Men's Tennis advances two at ITA National Fall Championships

Junior Harrison Scott wins three-setter in singles, while juniors Rodrigo Banzer and Leonardo Telles rally for three-set doubles win.
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – Texas junior Harrison Scott rallied for a three-set singles win, and his classmates Rodrigo Banzer and Leonardo Telles followed suit in doubles Wednesday at the inaugural ITA National Fall Championships.
Scott took on California's Jack Molloy in the first round of the singles draw and fought his way into the second round. The 22nd-ranked Canadian dropped the first set, 6-3 before rallying to take the second, 6-4. Scott took control in the final set and won 6-2 to move on to the second round, where he will meet Oregon's 16th-seeded Thomas Laurent.
UT's 86th-ranked junior Leonardo Telles confronted a difficult challenge in the form of second-seeded Nuno Borges of Mississippi State in singles. Telles challenged Borges in the first set, though Borges ultimately prevailed, 7-5. Borges took the second set, 6-1 to move on to the second round.
Late Wednesday night in doubles, Telles joined UT junior Rodrigo Banzer to take on Michigan's Runhao Hua and Alex Knight in the first round of the main draw. The Wolverines claimed the first set, 6-3 before Banzer and Telles stormed back for a 6-2 second-set win. The match progressed to a 10-point super-tiebreaker to decide the match, and Texas prevailed 11-9 to move on to Thursday's round of 16 against N.C. State.
