Windle claims one-meter title at UT Diving Invite

Texas freshman Jordan Windle joins UT sophomore Jacob Cornish atop the final one-meter standings.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas freshman Jordan Windle continued his solid opening semester of collegiate diving and claimed the men's one-meter title Thursday evening at the UT Diving Invite.
Windle, a two-time World Championships competitor for Team USA, took the lead from UT sophomore Jacob Cornish after the fifth of six rounds and closed out the win in the final round with 398.50 points.
The U.S. national champion put together a consistently strong list of dives and topped out with 73.6 points on his fourth dive, a forward, two-and-a-half somersault with one twist in the pike position.
Cornish settled for second place with 373.75 points, though his reverse, two-and-a-half somersault yielded a meet-best 78 points in round three.
Sophomore Reed Merritt competed in the one-meter preliminary round and placed 10th overall with 234.80 points.
The Texas men resume competition on Friday with the three-meter preliminary round at 12:45 p.m. The finals are set for 5:35 p.m. with live coverage on Longhorn Network.
