Schubert leads her team with a 70.22 stroke average this season.
Senior Texas golfer Sophia Schubert is rated No. 4 in the fall Arnold Palmer Cup Rankings for the 2018 event at Evian Resort Golf Club, it was announced Thursday.
The top-six golfers from the final ranking in the spring from both the United States and internationally – 12 total golfers – will be selected to compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup July 6-8. The 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup will be the first using the expanded format of the United States women's collegiate golfers vs. their counterparts from around the world.
Using Golfstat's NCAA player ranking as a base, the Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking awards bonus points for wins and high finishes, and a penalty for poor finishes. The ranking also contains a strength of schedule component.
Schubert, who won the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship over the summer, leads her team with a 70.22 stroke average this season. She has finished among the top-10 individuals in each of the three tournaments in which she has competed this season, including winning individual medalist honors at the 2017 Betsy Rawls Invitational. She is 210-9-2 against collegiate individuals this season.
Schubert is ranked No. 5 in the Golfweek women's collegiate individual rankings and is No. 21 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. She was named the Big 12 Conference October Golfer of the Month.
Schubert has helped her team to a top-five finish in each of the three tournaments in which she has competed, including a 15-stroke team victory at the Betsy Rawls Invitational. As a team, the Longhorns are currently No. 8 in the Golfweek women's team collegiate rankings.
